Hi dmitry,
First of thanks a million for posting such beautiful topics related to QTP. It indeed helped us a lot to increase our knowledge in QTP. I want u to post many more such informational for us but make them easily downloadable too.
Please focus a lot on QTP ie regarding frameworks, descriptive programming, database testing with QTP etc..
1)I have a Query for u buddy please answer it there 2 webtables in a webpage with same name and same number of row and columns. How to get the 4th row data from second table?
2)If i have some data in an Excel with mixed case. How to convert the same data into UPPER CASE.

Dmitry Motevich said...

Thank you very much, Shashi, for your comments!

As for your questions:

1. You have to use Object Spy and Object Repository to find unique attributes of webtable, for example:
id
location
name
index
and so on
Use them to uniquely identify your webtables.

2. Use 'UCase'. It converts a string to all upper case letters.
As opposite, 'LCase' converts a string to all lower case letters.

Hi all, can I convert the QTP into vbs so that I can call it from VB or C#? How to do it?

Dmitry, thanks so much for your great work!

Dmitry Motevich said...

You don't need to convert QTP scripts.
You can run QTP script from command line.
Since all programming languages allow running external commands, you will be able to run also your QTP scripts

Dear Dmitry Motevich

Dmitry Motevich said...

@chandra,
The most essential docs of QTP are located in 'QuickTest Professional\Help' folder on your computer.

Anonymous said...

hey Dmitry!

that was just about awesome.

1.can u post some similar descriptive stuff for scripting for QTP with examples.

2. how about having something on "how to set a object repository" and the like.

3. you can also make a link wherin some readable notes/ question &answers/interview FAQ , which in turn would increase the number of hits to the site and increase the site's usability.

keep the light burnin'

Cheers!

Rudy

Your QTP videos seem to be very useful, but I can't get the sound track either when launched from your site or from blip.tv (I can see/hear other videos on the same machine and with the sane flash drive).

What needs to be done to also hear the sound track of your videos?

Thanks,
Joe

Thank you very much for the vidoe.. This is very helpful for the beginners.

I have a question here:
I am automating a web application and platform is Java and now after my script is complete, if there is any change in the platform to .Net will it affect my scripts which are generated earlier?

Puru said...

Hi Dmitry,
I am finding them more interesting as i am going through these sessions!!!!!

I have one question,In QTP can we have 2 different script linkig together in a single Master script or is it possible to refer the 2nd script at the end of execution of script1????
For ex : Script 1:
In Portal application i go and create en new employee number.
Script 2 : This employee number would be used to create his bank details
Script 3 :Employee number creaeted would be used to update his passport details

In the above scenario's script 2 & 3 are independent steps.
But Script 1 is common for both! Could you plz let me know how i can achieve modularization of scripting in QTP
